Freshly (home)Made: Lotion Bars! September 24, 2015 18:46

A lotion bar is a compact and incredibly moisturizing solid form of lotion. It resembles a bar of soap and can be used anytime! We recommend using our lotion bars after you get out of the shower and your body is still slightly damp, so that the lotion melts onto your skin and becomes more spreadable with the warm water. However, they can also be used simply by massaging onto your body or areas that feel specifically dry, and proceeding to rub in the moisturizer until it fully melts into your skin.

Lotion bars are excellent for travel, particularly if you keep them in a tin or plastic box. They are way more convenient for plane travel as well, for your carry-on bag!

Our lotion bars are made, with love and skill, in the kitchen in the back of our shop in Brooklyn, NY. We melt down shea, mango and cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut oil (or sweet almond), then add the essential oils last for that mesmerizing aroma. Lastly, we pour the mixture into our variety of intricate silicon molds and allow them to solidify. The more beeswax you add, the more solid and long lasting it will be. Then we pop them out and stick 'em in the fridge.

There you have it! The wonderful magic of the homemade lotion bar.
