Buddha, the sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded, sitting in meditation with Vitarka Mudra. In this Mudra the right hand is raised, thumb and index finger touching to form a circle. The left hand rests in the lap, palm facing up. The Vitarka Mudra (used in yoga, Buddhism and Hinduism) represents teaching, reasoning and intellectual debate.
